However Saturday developed into sunny spells. This, together with the freshly mown grass, verdant trees, enthusiastic helpers, playful children and numerous happy ducks all conspired to create a convivial atmosphere. There was indeed a good turn out, especially from youngsters, and I hope all participants enjoyed themselves and have marked the dates of future Saturday events in their diaries. Unfortunately there was a major flaw in the score course as for control 23 (wall, south side) the map markings were obscured (a) by buildings & (b) by the competitor's thumb. This caught out a number of you and I apologise for the error. With hindsight the position was unsuitable. Both the yellow and score courses were a bit longer than recent Saturday events, but two teenagers managed to run the former in under 20 minutes and two HH speed merchants visited all score event controls within the allotted time. We are very grateful to all those who helped to set up and run the event especially John Currie (who also vetted the courses), the Brown's, David Brigginshaw, the Erringtons, The Parkes' Family, Jan Watts and Katerina Novotna.
