Complaint from a member of the public

We have received a complaint from a dog-walker, who was told by someone taking part in the event to "put her on a leash before she attacks somebody, or I will attack you". Whilst it is clearly acceptable to ask the owner of an excitable dog to put it on a leash, it should be equally clear that the extra words used in this case are not acceptable, no matter what the provocation. This action has jeopardised our use of Northaw Great Wood in future. Please remember that we share the woods with the wider public, and that the future of orienteering depends on us showing courtesy and consideration to all.
