Club captain Val Challacombe reminds us of the dates of the SE League events this season-have you got your entries in for Epping and Winterfold?

The first major club competition of the season for Happy Herts will be the South East League. For new members, this is a competition between all the clubs in the South East which includes all the clubs 'south of the river' plus ourselves, CHIG, LOK, HAVOC and SOS. It takes place at all the Badge events during the season. As there are always more Badge events 'south of the river', it does tend to involve Happy Herts in more travelling. However, the thing I like about SE League is that everybody counts. If you help at a Happy Herts event which is part of the competition or do a colour coded course or just complete your badge course you earn a point. If you go faster you will score more points depending on the expected minutes per kilometre for your age group. To see the details of this you can look at the notice board which is always displayed at SE League events. The SE League events for this season are as follows :

So the important thing is to get your entries in for the Epping and Winterfold events. It's time we gave Southdowns and the other southern clubs a real run for their money. If we all turn out and have good runs, no one can beat us!!

As you know, the British Orienteering Championships in 2002 will be in Northern Ireland at the same venues as planned for 2001. Would anyone who would like me to organise a trip for HH to travel together and find accommodation, please let me know. If there is enough interest I will look into the possibilities in the New Year.
