You’ll work harder because you’re distracted by the navigation, even the easy stuff. As you progress, this trick gives you the best workout of your training programme. Swap variety for those endless reps.

What is orienteering?
We’ll give you a map showing a series of checkpoints for you to visit as fast as you can. People walk, jog, or run, but the quickest route may not be the shortest! With experience you’ll go off-trail and use a compass, on the run. We’ll hire you a timing chip (£1) which registers each checkpoint.
Our newcomer events around Hertfordshire are are held monthly, on a Saturday; start any time 10:00-11:30. There is a range of courses, so you can progress. Adult (or family going as a group) £5, Juniors £2. If you join us, kids run free!
On midweek evenings in summer we stage “Street-O” events for over 16s. It’s the same principle: add navigation to your exercise, for variety and a better workout.
