New Forest for Hertfordshire - The Woodland Trust has unveiled proposals to create England’s largest new native forest (850 acres / 3.4 km2) between St. Albans & Harpenden. Initial funding has to be raised by 30/09/08. Bordering Nomansland Common, the planned forest is to extend SW to the Midland Mainline, S to Sandridge, and to the SE & E across the Wheathampstead / Sandridge Road.
